Η οικογένεια Εζνεπίδη ετοιμάζεται για τον γάμο της Αμαλίας. Ο Ελληνοϊταλικός, όμως, πόλεμος έρχεται να ανατρέψει τα σχέδια και τις ζωές όλων των Ελλήνων. Ο Ραφαήλ και ο Χαράλαμπος πηγαίνουν στον πόλεμο και ο Αρσένιος προσπαθεί να βοηθήσει την οικογένειά του να σταθεί όρθια στις πολύ δύσκολες στιγμές. Ακολουθεί η γερμανική κατοχή και οι μεγάλες δυσκολίες που φέρνει μαζί της. Έχοντας σαν παράδειγμα τη μάνα του και τον πατέρα του, ο Αρσένιος προσπαθεί να βοηθήσει όσους έχουν ανάγκη. Έρχεται η απελευθέρωση αλλά πολύ γρήγορα αρχίζει η μεγάλη πληγή της Ελλάδος, ο Εμφύλιος πόλεμος. Ο Αρσένιος καλείται να καταταγεί στον στρατό. Καταφεύγει στην Παναγία και την παρακαλεί να τον βοηθήσει να μην σκοτώσει άνθρωπο. Παίρνει την ειδικότητα του ασυρματιστή και γίνεται παράδειγμα για τους συστρατιώτες του με την αυταπάρνηση, τη μεγάλη πίστη και την θυσιαστική του αγάπη.
